| This campaign aims to limit and eventually stop Heavy Goods Vehicles from using roads through the scenic village of Oltrona al Lago for access to Barasso. We ask the Comune Barasso the following; To the Sindaco of the Comune Barasso As an elected body you are responsible and accountable for your actions and should consider the impact of your decisions on the surrounding communities. The Health & Safety of the people in this area should be your number one priority. 1. Why was there no consultation or communication with local residents ? 2. Who re designated the agricultural farm land to industrial and when ? 3. Why was no report commissioned on the environmental impact on local communities? With reference to; Directive 2003/35/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 May 2003 providing for public participation in respect of the drawing up of certain plans and programmes relating to the environment and amending with regard to public participation and access to justice Council Directives 85/337/EEC and 96/61/EC English - Italian 4. Did you conduct a health & safety risk assessment on the additional traffic ? 5. Did you consider improvements in road infrastructure through Barasso to allow for this further growth ? 6. Did the Comune di Barasso consider the impact of the heavy traffic through Oltrona al Lago ? 7. Why is there no concern about air pollution from increased traffic? | Heavy traffic brings with it many problems to the local inhabitants. Road damage, increase risk of serious traffic accidents, noise pollution, excess exhaust emissions and general reduced quality of village life. |
